OK, this has been going around on Facebook and I posted it there too...but I found some links I also wanted to share so...yea. Plus some of my random facts are really just short, condesed versions of posts I've been wanting to write for like...years. (See #10)
For the game you just have to list 25 random things about you. If you are reading this, you are officially tagged so let me know if you write one.
---
1. I've secretly wanted to do this thing for a while but had to wait until someone tagged me...cuz otherwise I'd feel lame. :P I noticed it spiraling closer the last couple days.
2. Some of the hardest feelings I've dealt with is feeling that someone you are (were) close to doesn't care about you and that you can't contact them.
3. I used to collect junk mail (not e-mail :P) and candy wrappers when I was little. I'm not really a pack rat, I promise.
4. I easily get addicted to things (chapstick, fruitsnacks, G-chat, tv shows, blogging!!).
5. I have attended eight schools: Astoria Park (K, 2-3), home school (1, yea I'm counting that), Rose Creek (4-5), American Heritage (6-8), South Hills (9), Riverton High (10...see American Idol anyone??), Hylton High (11-12) and BYU!
6. I am absolutely horrible at making decisions and it takes me forever to do so...especially big ones. I go back and forth a lot...
7. One of my favorite places to be is driving in my car with the heater blowing on my feet and singing along to great music.
8. The talent I wish I had is photography. I think it's really cool and think you are even cooler if you do it.
9. My favorite class in college was ELang 322: Modern American Usage. We talked about all kinds of fun things like how we use the English language today and proper ways to use terms like alright/all right, different from/different than and other basic things that are commonly misused.
10. Even though I'm an editor and am a nerd and read grammar books for fun, I don't get peeved about "improper" use or think it's my place to tell everyone how they should and should not speak and use grammar. Which I think is funny because I can probably bet I know more than most of the common people who go about getting frustrated and insisting on correcting and informing others. I'm not always "proper" and my belief is that most people know but, yes, make mistakes or may not choose to follow the rules...that's how language changes and I don't necessarily think that's a bad thing. I think the language belongs to the people who use it.
11. My nerdiness is clearly displayed in the point above. But that's not as bad as it gets. You'll probably have to spend more time with me to find out...well, maybe not.
12. I'm a very private, personal person and can narrow down at least three subjects that I rarely speak about with anyone.
13. Today none of my siblings or I boast of any musical or theatrical talents...But when we were younger we performed as a little musical group singing patriotic songs like "Take Your Hat Off," and performing plays of the Scripture Scouts. (Ruthie and I shared the part of Baby and our dad was Boo the dog.)
14. I have a shoe fetish. A quick count revealed that I currently have 44 pairs...although that was quick, I just cleaned out my closet, and I'm not a great counter. In high school, my friends once tried to steal one of every pair of my shoes...but I didn't notice for a month because they didn't get them all.
15. Um, I'm kinda, just slightly obsessed with my birthday. Sometimes I count down for months on end.
16. For some odd reason my favorite single digit number is 4, double digit 14, triple 414, quadruple 0414. I really like these numbers. Like...they make me happy.
17. I don't like getting ready in bathrooms. It must be a family thing stemming from when we all had huge mirrors in our rooms and converted our desks into little vanitys where we could sit down and do our hair and makeup. Getting ready standing in front of the bathroom mirror is so overrated.
18. I rarely know lyrics to songs but enjoy still singing and kinda mumbling along (very loudly) anyways. Although...I'm finding that if I really like a song and listen to it enough (Taylor Swift's new album is proof) I can sooo get the lyrics down flat.
19. I love big cities. New York, London, D.C. Oh, they just make me excited. I really want to move nearer to one but...well, it just hasn't been working out. Someday though...
20. Whew, 25 is a lot! I kinda hate it when people steal ideas or thoughts from me and run with them, pretty making them their own and not giving me credit for introducing, sharing, etc...if that makes sense.
21. I like to scrapbook, but lately it just seems that I just like to buy scrapbook supplies. Within the last couple months I seriously tripled my supply and have yet to get anything done. But the paper is oh so pretty.
22. I can range from being very outgoing to being very shy.
23. I'm running out of ideas so I'm resulting to sharing this. I can be slightly stalkerish (No Shannon by any means for you Bachelor watchers) because sometimes I form humorous crushes on boys I talk to like maybe once a year but somehow find ways to follow their lives and know whether they are single or not....
24. I love to dance...any kind. Ballet, jazz, tap, clogging, Irish, funk, modern, lyrical, ballroom, swing, hip hop, country, even Zumba!! And I love love LOVE going dancing or to dances. I wish I did it more often.
25. I really like music. Sometimes I'll hear a song and want things to happen a certain way in my life so I can connect to the song. For example, the first 30 seconds of Matt White's "New York Girls" (or actually better yet, "Salt Lake Girls" see below) makes me want to marry someone (I guess date would work too :P) who is almost 25 so we can use that clip in a wedding video. It would be especially nice if his name were Stephen to tie in Taylor Swift's "Hey Stephen." So let me know if you know any single, 25 (or close)-year olds named Stephen. :)
