In sacrament meeting last Sunday, one speaker talked on journal writing and presented 6 reasons to keep a journal taken from an article by Brad Wilcox in the 1999 Sept. Ensign.
She was encouraging everyone to keep a journal—and, of course, to use the new year as a motivation to start.
I don’t like saying that my blog is my journal. Because I don’t think of it like that and I think that’s weird. Plus, I keep (somewhat) an actual, real, pen-on-paper journal. But my blog does track little things about where I am in life, different thoughts about things and different experiences I encounter. I especially liked how I could connect the points she said to specific posts I've made (even a combination of several over time) or to things I've written even just for me.
Anyways, here are the 6 reasons:
1. Writing allows you to think: You have to write even when you think you have nothing to say.
2. Writing allows you to feel.
3. Writing lets you discover who you are.
4. Writing helps us grow and expand; it is also a reflection of living.
5. Writing helps us remember.
6. Writing helps us dream.
Again the article is called "Why Write It." It takes a different perspective on journal writing and recognizes different concerns people have with the task. Check it Out.
So, remember to write and record things in your lives....remember to think, feel, discover, grow, remember and dream. Always remember to dream.

Perhaps if you search for Brad Wilcox you will find something.
Yes! Thanks Chris...I knew something was off with that name but I swear that's exactly what she said and I wrote it in my notes.
Please note the link in the text now. Thanks!
